We’ll fast forward to just a few years ago and Matty Smiths last minute goal for us v them at the Den did exactly the same to them, as they went down by just one point I think. And look where they are now.

The next morning, in a Scovell Road cafe during a break in my milk round, I read a glowing (Daily Mirror?) report with the headline “Millwall/Vale put on Spurs/Benfica show”
The match and that report, two of my most vivid Millwall memories.
Obeney (in his above post), was of a similar opinion.
I didn't go, but I seem to remember my dad talking about that night game.
Must of been some game to leave such vivid, long lasting memories to the supporters.

I too was at that game, how it ended up goalless is a mystery. The referee was quoted after the game that the atmosphere was better than the FA Cup Final which he'd officiated at earlier in the year. Excellent night at the old place and one that will remain with me until 'I'll pop me clogs'.
