THE DEFINITIVE TRANSFER IN/OUT THREAD!!!

Styles would be a good fit as he is technically good enough to play how Edwards wants.

I think there’s a starting berth up for grabs at either Left back or centre midfield and he can play either position well.

Though I’ve said in the past we need less jack of all trades and more specialists, which is still true. I think the price tag will put us off him, but he was super keen to join us and pushed hard to make it happen last year as far as I’m aware.

I think Styles is a step backwards now, we have youngsters and we have depth, what I think we need is anyone coming in on a transfer has to be in the starting line up for the next 2 years.

I can’t agree, sorry. If we had depth we wouldn’t have lost the last 3 matches with the players we have missing.
If we had youth ready to step up, Esse would have played more in those games.
I’m not saying Styles is right, and certainly not for silly money.

Out of interest mate where do you think we have depth?
Squad of 25, never been that big before, Campbell 5th choice CM, 9 Defenders if you include Leonard, huge wage bill, we have had quite a few missing lately yet not come close to having to give a youngster his debut because we lacked fit players.
I think we are at the stage of bringing in quality not quantity.

its one of our weakest positions in the squad. Murray who is passed it (yes he had a good few games around Christmas) but isnt at this level anymore and Byran who is injured half of the time. Styles is early 20s and technically very good on the ball. He would be an upgrade on what we have and someone who can play for a decade for us

I'm thinking that Edwards would get better than Styles when needed.
We are not pushing for the play offs this season so I wouldn't like to see another squad player added on a probable 3 1/2 year contract when he might only be of use for the rest of this season.
For me, we can let go every player out of contract this summer and if good bids came in for anyone but De Norre and Emakhu then we should seriously consider them.
That way money should be available to bring in players that Edwards feels is right and makes room for whoever in our crop of youngsters Edwards feels will make it in our first team squad.
I don't have a problem with Styles or any of our players but if we are to step up to being constantly in the top ten then changes need to be made and I don't see Styles as a long term signing.

Saville ?

De Norre ?

The kid is supposed be a defensive mid. Not sure it's where we urgently needed covering. Wouldn't be to chuffed if any of them lost there place to an inexperienced kid to be honest. As said Saville would be first name of the team sheet for me. We need guile and leadership and he brings that. We look a different side when he's absent. Lets see what happens anyway mate!!
If Campbell was to return to Luton and Edwards thinks Castledine is a player for next season it could make sense to get him in now.
