Rod Liddle on the Spotters

The thing for me, looking down at their pitiful plight and their parade of failed managers and nut job Chairman, is we were blessed with John. Had a bit of clout behind him, sensible and stable management of the club. He made mistakes, of course, but learnt from them but was never a fly by night.

Anyway, back to chuckle town, I have little sympathy but thank fuck we’re not in that division.
When it comes to football owners or perhaps just wealthy people, they are used to doing what they want, not caring about others and generally don't earn respect just demand it or assume it's there.
JB earnt his respect throughout life it seems in many different ways and I feel it has added to our uniqueness in modern day football and with his son being cut from a similar cloth, long may it continue and long may the anoraks misery do so as well.

Could Charlton do a much worse than get Alan Curbishley in for the rest of the season? 🤔

He hasn’t managed for some while but I’m sure he has nous and experience to arrest the decline, avoid the drop and lay a foundation for a permanent appointment next season 🤷‍♂️
Football has moved a lot since he was last in a job, he could be out of his depth now and wouldn't have the time to adjust before they went down.
So I say give him a chance.

Nathan Jonsd would fit in nicely with their illusions of grandeur as he described himself as ‘one of the best managers in Europe’!!

Over on Into the Valium they’re all going crazy re the appointment of Jones as their new manager.

Even the forum’s owner has got caught up in the euphoria of it all. So much so that he has already plagiarised an old song for them to sing from the stands. I mean, I know they know we call them the trainspotters, but this is taking things to a whole new level.

Got a song for him already!

To the music of Casey Jones!!

Stop, look, listen ’cos you’re gonna hear
A brand new story ’bout a great engineer,
He’s the greatest of them all we claim
Number one’s his engine, Nathan Jones his name.

Nathan Jones a steamin’ and a rollin’,
Nathan Jones you never have to guess
When you hear the tootin’ of the whistle
It’s Nathan at the throttle of the Charlton Athletic Express!

Dear Lord!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bananarama already beat him to it!

You've been gone too long (too long, too long, too long)
Nathan Jones, Nathan Jones, Nathan Jones
You packed your bags as I recall
And you walked slowly down the hall
You said you had to get away to ease your mind
And all you needed was a just little of time
Oh, winter's past, spring, and fall
You never wrote me, you never called
Nathan Jones, you've been gone too long
Gone too long
If a woman could die of tears
Nathan Jones, well, I wouldn't be here
The key that you're holding won't fit my door
And there's no room in my heart for you, no more
'Cause, winter's past, spring, and fall
You never wrote me, you never called
Nathan Jones, you've been gone too long
Gone too long
Nathan
Nathan Jones

Are you sure that’s Bananarama’s version or is it the original Supremes version?
