Decent player at 35, but still, out of contract and a freebie. Not really money where his mouth is. He was lined up a couple of weeks ago, regardless of who was going to be the owner. If his legs hold out, he might be lifting the PL trophy in three years.

doing a deal to lease the ground instead of buy could be a coup. He’s worth a right few quid but not on billionaire levels. Not having to find 50 mill now for the ground and training ground frees more funds for investment in the team.
Still don’t think he’s got anywhere near the available funds they think he has to get them to the levels where they THINK they belong.

The funny thing is he’s never even been to Charlton when there’s been a crowd there. They all claim he’s ‘got’ Charlton and got the Charlton ‘bug’ , he’s been ‘Charltonised’...whatever the fuck that is? (Turned in to a boring drip?) but what a come down for him it’s going to be when there’s an actual Charlton crowd there and he realises their ‘decent’ average attendances over the years have all been a myth and the place is as dull as dishwater.
