McCleary, Carter and Sheringham on promotion.

Teddy must be reaching 60 soon but looks like a Hollywood film star.
He’s 2 years and 2 days younger than me, and has kept himself in better nIck than I could ever hope to replicate! 🤣

The man’s an absolute legend in my book, and I was so happy he got the riches he so deserved (both monetary and medal wise), at Man U, by completing the triple in 1999 (Premier league, the FA Cup and the Champions league!)

That and his goals for England, especially at Euro 96 (his 2 goals helping England to destroy the Dutch team 4-1, and earned Ted the MOM award for that game), made me so proud knowing where he got his first real break from, piling his trade for Wall supporters, down at The Den!

Cheers, Ted!

Teddy Sheringham is the best player I've ever seen in a Millwall shirt. I went to nearly every game home and away in 1990/91 and I'm not sure any Millwall player ever has had a better season. The goals he scored against Leicester away were two absolutely stupendous headers.

Add to that the Bristol City game at Ashton Gate when they went 1-0 up and their fans were singing "Sheringham? Wank, wank, wank" at half-time only for Teddy to come out and bang in a 2nd half hat-trick in a 4-1 win which led to thousands of Bristol waiting in the park for us behind the main stand. It was pretty lively that day, before and after. The coach I was on got bricked on the motorway underpass on the way home.

Also, a word for the penultimate goal he ever scored for us at Sheffield Wednesday away. We got blown away and were 2-0 down. We rallied a bit at the end and Teddy scored a brilliant header that was just a consolation. The travelling Lions sang his name constantly and he stayed behind after all the players had left the pitch and clapped us for ages. A really special memory for me.

How is he not a Millwall legend? A record goalscorer, years of service, part of our most successful period ever and one of the cleverest footballers the country has ever produced.

Oh, Teddy, Teddy. Teddy, Teddy, Teddy, Teddy Sheringham.

Can never get my nut around the ill will towards him. So what if he played for the vermin years later, he ain't a Wall supporter and owed us fuck all. The geezer brought nothing but joy for me for and gave us some of the best life long memories that i still cherish today.

Would always buy him a pint if the chance arouse. He's a legend in my book too, i can't hate a bloke the helped write one of our clubs the most successful chapters. I celebrated when he scored for England as well. Top professional!!

I wish him all the best.
Me neither
just cant get my nut around it either ha
I tend to not get involved it if its all "West Ham ####"

Reference England i was very lucky saw near all his games at wembley , a millwall supporter i knew was a coach but lived way out so he used to give me his tickets Comps, they get invited to all sorts of stuff dont they so had lots of storys about meeting footballers at functions etc.

i was at the Holland game when Teddy and Shearer got 2 each in that 4-1 win
Saw a mate at the game Chelsea fan after and said "Not bad is he, we made him"

Talking to someone a few months ago and he said when he was at Spurs his record was near a goal every 2 games

Heard cascarino a few years ago talking about him , said when he first joined millwall he thought he was aloof, a tad flash and a bit miserable ha

Telling him what positions to take up and where to go on the pitch and a few verbals and he was thinking "Hang on your younger than me and im the big money signing "

Also how he was good at all sports and the best at the club , When all the players went off to play Golf and some asked him to tag along he was always "Nar fk that sport for old men"

went along one week after never having picked up a club in his life and within weeks was the best player by a mile at the club

Same cards never played tagged alone in a few short years was playing professional level
Good at Tennis and won the table tennis games they played as well
Spose at times it could be annoying

Read Seb Coes book once and his parents said when they went to school Athletics meetings and sat in the crowd to watch him at times they felt embarrassed as he seemed to win at everything even the Discus !
Sometimes they heard in the crowd rumblings of "whats the point that seb kid will win again"

His dad who trained him as well also said at times deep deep down he was thinking "just lose this one son"

Back to Ted and Cas they seemed to sort their differences out and became best friends after a short while, I know Cas named his first child after him

whilst going to west ham was pretty horrible, teh way he has spoke of the club and interacted with teh club since has made up a lot of ground. he could have given us the silent treatment, or slagged us off, or sneered at us - but he's been a gent and spoke well of teh club since.

legend.

First time I met Ted 1986 ish he was coming out of the bookies on the corner of Billington road, along from the five bells. He was about to get in his escort xr3 and I called him out. Can’t remember exactly what we spoke about, obviously wall related but I do remember how down to earth he was.

Met him again a few years ago at fox hills in the bar. He had just finished 18 holes but looked as fit as ever. Had a brief chat with him and he was still as down to earth as ever and spoke with all the enthusiasm of a wall fan about the club.

Always be a wall legend for me, no matter who he played for later. Stayed longer than he needed and showed us loyalty.
