Even the club won't know what the targetted player and his agent are thinking most of the time.
It isn't in the club's interest to keep us up to date with potential transfers deals, the further down the line they can get a deal sorted with the least number of people knowing is the best way for us to get the deal done.
It might be frustrating and certainly leads to a lot of lies being believed but I have never known of any club doing it differently.

We are also in the position that we have been in many times in the last few decades, we have peaked with the players we have got and peaked with the finances needed to keep at that level, the only difference is this is the first time we have sustained ourselves in Div 2 rather than being relegated and starting all over again.
We can't afford to buy players that are good enough to come straight into the starting line up and can't afford a huge squad to have the depth that means an immediate replacement is waiting in the reserves.
We need to remember we are losing about 10m a season, 200k a week, 28k each day.

Having said that, it isn't hard to see that this summer needs a bit of a clearout and new life brought into the club.

If one way or another we don't sign them, how is that his fault? He's recommended a couple of great Dutch attacking midfielders who wouldn't look out of place in Fulhams squad, Rowett agreed and the board submitted bids. They were rejected but we didn't pursue it further because due to injuries we needed a quick signing and had to temporarily bring in Burke until the end of the season. I fully expect we'll go back for them in the Summer and if we get them will be fantastic additions. That's what he does.

I want Jed to stay with us to the end of the season. OK we dont get a fee but he has more than paid for himself, and he is still doing that. In the unlikely event we make the playoffs you will be glad he is still here.
