Wigan Athletic look set to find out the number of points they will be deducted and when it will be applied this week.

The Latics were already the subject of a suspended points deduction after failing to pay wages on time on numerous occasions – and the owners haven’t been able to pay up once again this month.

In a statement last week, the club revealed that they had failed to do so because of “liquidity issues”, something that may come as a concern to Wigan supporters who saw their side fall into administration less than three years ago.

Many clubs do seem to do that following relegation. I guess it all depends on what parachute payment they'd be entitled to and how wisely they spent it!

When we played away to them just before lockdown, we stayed the weekend.
In the shopping centre they have a hall of fame to the Wigan Warriors, and it's quite interesting. Photos and story of their history.

It must be very difficult for a small town football club to survive if you live near the Merseyside/Manchester areas.
