Whats the point?

But those that come straight back down, do so with a huge wedge in their back pocket and parachute payments for 3 years.
Parachute payments seem to get spent on transfer fees and players wages, quite a few clubs don't get back to the premiership and are just left with players they can't get off their books.

Luton appear to have been sensible and spent very little that should mean when they come back down their financial well being and future will be secure for some time 👍

Luton are the marker for us I think, what can they achieve this season, do they stick with the manager for another 12 months regardless and how much better does all the money make once back in the Championship.

The only hope on the horizon to stop the big financial gap between all leagues is the talked about change, doing away with FFP and replacing it with a limit on spending a percentage of income on wages, needs to be watertight to avoid loopholes but sounds fairer to me.

3 promoted clubs from championship have played 30 games combined and won 2 !!!
Only forest who went up 2 seasons ago have fone ok but they have spent well over 300m and they are only just above the relegation places
It wasn’t long ago that we were playing Fulham, Brentford, Wolves, Bournemouth & Forest so it is possible

In fact (a bit of stat wankery) with the help from the BBC:

“Only once in Premier League history have all three promoted teams gone straight back down again. That was in 1997-98 when Barnsley, Bolton and Crystal Palace were relegated”

Clubs that recieve parachute payments are three times more likely to be promoted back to the premier league. It's akin to the old boys network that exists to benefit the elites.

Norwich and West Brom haven't managed to get up yet and are in their last year of parachute payments, if they don't do it this year it could be years before they get close to going up again.
