Against Newcastle. Fourth round of the FA cup in front of 45,646. We won 2-1. Beat the Nigels 2-0 in the previous round which was also a home game and a gate of just under 27k. We played them again (Nigels) in the league a few week later and beat them 3-0 in front of a crowd of just under 17k. Drew away at theirs 2-2 earlier in the season. Johnny Shepherd scored against them in every meeting that season.
We took some hammerings that season and was involved in some very high scoring games. Lost at home to Bournemouth 4-3 . The return game we lost 6-1. Lost away at Torquay 7-2 and beat them by the same score at home. Lost 7-1 at Walsall. We beat Brighton 4-3 at the Den, beat Norwich 5-1 at the Den too. Lost 5-0 at Brentford.

Incredible scorelines, we’d do well to score seven goals in a quarter of the season now.
