Sunderland

Thank god it wasn't Wycombe coming up. Sunderland is a proper club, travel well and a good away day.
Exactly what I was thinking yesterday. Always enjoyed playing Sunderland, proper club and put Newcastle to shame.

Playing Wycombe has not attraction whatsoever. Remember a few years back when we seemed to always draw them in the early stages of the league cup.

Used to enjoy Sunderland at home, good atmosphere, brought a good following and we always seemed to get a result again them. Shame Sheff Wens didn’t come up too, Wigan and Rotherham are shit games and the ones I least look forward to.

Most boring away trip I know. Fucking miles to walk if you drive and no chance of any dancing. At least one proper club has landed up in the Championship. About time Pompey got promoted again n all.

Remember a coach load of us stopping outside their pub by the ground with no escort. In the ground surrounded by them about 50 of us and 6 old bill. They were all lobbing gear at us and the only one they nicked was a Millwall lad. Think we Might have won 1-0 with 10 men but can’t quite remember.

Always had a soft spot for Sunderland. Proper club and proper fans. Always seemed to have more class than the geordies down the road.

Me too, since the mid 80's, when my sister married one. They ended up living not far from Bermondsey station, so when he didn't go back up North for Sunderland games he would come to The Den (old and new) with me and/or my brother for 'Wall games.

:grinning:
