Shots conceded

That stat in isolation doesn't look good, so for balance, some context needs to be thrown in:

A shot can mean anything from a goal to a free kick hitting the wall. We are a team that are more defensive conscious (at the moment). So the answer to your question is, probably in the way we are set up.

How many of those shots are on target? How many are from some chancer with a clueless long range effort? How many end up near the corner flag? How many end up clearing the stand? How many are blocked? I presume saved Penalties are included?

Probably more importantly, how many end up in the back of the net? Millwall have conceded five goals in five league games ... In the championship, four other teams have conceded five, sixteen other teams have conceded six or more, and three other teams have conceded less than five.

You will never stop players taking a shot, that's the nature of Football, init?
It doesn't look so bad in context.

Good shout LB but “at the moment”? Who you kidding! 😉🤣

So, we concede only once from every 17 shots.

The Middlesbrough game highlights at least one thing. They were having difficulty getting into our box, getting frustrated and so ended up shooting from 25, 30, 35 yards. Invariably, these "shots" were off target. But that's down to good shape and defending.

Sorry, one more thing.

I suppose it's a bit like possession or passing stats. Ultimately mean nothing if you have 70% possession and however many passes if you lose the game.

Only downside is one day a few more shots might convert into goals. I’d prefer less shots on target and more for us.

We concede 17 shots per game - the 4th worst in the Championship - why ?
because we don't tackle the opposition until they reach our box and then they are in shooting range and more chance of giving a penalty away.....one of GR stranger tactics of many

Not even a beautiful summers day can stop some looking on the negative side, cheer up it's the last weekend of summer and the weather couldn't be better and Millwall are not going to lose today, stop thinking of miserable hypotheticals and enjoy yourself.

^^^^^ Exactly... And if you fancy some flying by the edge of your pants Football, the Gonks's mob are in action against The Ukraine at five tonight.

:grinning:

.Perhaps we defend well and deep so teams are having to shoot cause they can't get in the box. Who knows. The onlt stat that matters to me is we've played some good teams and have seven points.

How many of those shots are on target?
Stoke had 2- Birmingham 4- Bristol 1- Norwich 5- Middlesboro 2

We've had 2 on target at Boro- 2 at Norwich-3 at Birmingham 5 v Stoke and 2 against Bristol 🤓🤓

We're averaging 15 shots on goal per game. So 17 against is nothing to get your knickers in a twist for a team that plays on the counter and concedes possession.

It's a pointless and meaningless stat...
Whoever came up with that 'shots against' stat, really hasn't got what it takes to be a credible statwanker and will never sit at the top table of statwankers....Fact!!
