Short Corners?

Why don’t we try some? Ever team knows what our corner strategy is and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to create anything from them. A short corner would take them by surprise and probably has a higher chance of success. Perhaps, we’re saving it for the Playoff Final 😉

We’ve been burnt several times this season by short-corners, 2 v Norwich and another v QPR immediately spring to mind, but we don’t seem to have learnt our lesson 🤷‍♂️. At least twice yesterday, PNE used the ploy, with our reaction to it slow and only one player moving to confront their 2🤦‍♂️. Lucky to get away with it :slap:

Great minds think alike! I was talking to my mates in block 29 about this very topic yesterday. Everybody expects us to lump it into the far post for Cooper or Hutch. Catch them out by playing a short corner or aim for the near post so somebody can flick it on to the far post. Or even do that clever trick of everybody rushing into the six yard box and leave one player to rush in to hit it low and hard into the goal. It really isn’t rocket science is it? And they have plenty of time to work on it at Calmont Road! Come on AB, earn your corn!

Or even put Cooper on the corner edge of the penalty box, necessitating one or two opposition players to stand with him, in case he makes a late charge into the goal area! Then, when he doesn’t move, that’s two less players in the box against our boys, giving us a better advantage!

These sort of things (as well as taking short corners), need to be developed on the training ground! The question we all should be asking is - why aren’t they?

A short corner obviously changes the angle the ball comes in at and also allows our players to slip their markers. It’s a simple change and still plays to our strengths.

Why not just try and score direct from a corner? Not many teams do that....Hutch and Cooper could be decoys by slipping their markers one and distracting them. Obviously, we will get sussed out eventually (and probably arrested), but with four more games left, it's worth a try and we might just get away with it.

We did score from a short corner ploy earlier in the season and can’t think who against? AB was congratulated for it!

Please remember we've scored more from set pieces than any other team in the division... if its not broke....
Not in previous 4 games. If you know something is going to happen you can plan for it, which teams are doing to us, if illegally. As someone said norwich did it twice to us, have a go at unpredictable. Never know we might mess up there plans for us. Just my opinion and not slagging the team off

Scoring from a corner in the park works sometimes, but against a championship keeper would be very hard.

Don't see the point of short corners tbh. Why struggle to get the cross in the box that you could have delivered with ease straight from the corner?

Doesn’t have to be short, maybe a bit different from what we been doing for years. As I stated earlier take a mega quick one and cause pandemonium
