Millwall v Ipswich match day thread

What's clear is that
It's pre season so I won't lose any sleep, but a bit concerning that in the last 3 games we haven't really created any chances. Hopefully GR has a plan and we'll be raring to go Saturday
What's clear is that we have 6 days now to get geed up to hit the ground running for once we need to get out of the blocks early.

Not been very good at all today. They are nowhere near the Swedes in terms of quality yet we haven't match the performance from the other night at all and we look sluggish and sloppy.

It looks like we don't know where to play Flemming and it also looks like the other players are not on his wavelength and he is also trying a bit too hard. I think he is a No. 10 behind a striker. Honeyman is playing as the No.10 and I think it wastes his energy in the centre of midfield.

Malone has been terrible. Loose passes, erratic. I think Murray is a better bet at LWB which would allow Cresswell to play at CB.

Plusses have been Shackleton who is all action and Honeyman again who works his nuts off.
my old boss used to say, 'Any Plan is better than No Plan'.
what was our plan today?
apart from Afobe's Gimme, did we have a shot on goal today?
Stoke must be shaking in their boots.

anyone have problems with millwallTV? Second half,I had three sound threads overlapping, but only one matched the visual. Made for an interesting afternoon! Almost wished for I Follow back.
We look very poor against a league 1 team, that I don’t think will be near the play offs.

No problem here.
Must be your, ahem, equipment, mate. :grinning: :grinning: :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

But there were 5 subs in one hit, never going to happen in a real game unless youre Hollaway
What does it matter if 1 sub came on, or 5, none of them improved the team! If a game is poor, or in a stalemate, you can bring on a sub(s) to change things up, maybe change formation but always in the belief that the changes can bring about a flash of brilliance and a goal, which the subbed player(s) couldn’t give you!

But, in pre season games you make changes to give other players the chance to improve their fitness, not to change the game.

The point was you would never make wholesale changes like that. It was to give people a run out, was never going to be a brilliant tactical change...

Agreed, but you also want to win games as well.

Much better to go into the first game of a new season off the back of a convincing win, than a lacklustre draw against a side in a division below you.

A goal today from either Bradshaw, Bennett, Burey etc. would have given those players a tremendous lift in their confidence for next Saturday’s game!

Adobe is going to go into the game against Stoke, brimming with more confidence than Bradshaw will have! We need both of these players at the top of their game to make the partnership work, and score the goals as they did for us last season!

Agreed, it was to give the players a run out, but as a manager you still want your players to have some sort of competitive edge. Do you think GR got that from most of the players today?

If we’re in a similar situation next Saturday, and GR brings on 3 subs with 20-30 minutes left, he will do so, expecting them to perform better than the players he’s taken off! I know today was only a friendly, but the players should still have the mindset to perform to the best of their ability, especially as there will be competition for places this season!

Don’t think we can afford to wait 10 games before our season starts to kick in!

And we're off...
Only a couple of weeks of friendlies behind us. Players not up to full fitness levels yet. New arrivals that need to bed in. Players cautious of fucking up their season with an injury during a nothing match. Lots of subs. Empty stadiums. No real rhythm and positional understanding yet. None of it is unique to 'Wall.

I can't see how any of the above has anything to do with GR's style or tactical nous. It's all really just your usual pre-season kick around shenanigans.

Fuck me, already 'The Haters Arms' door is ajar, with the fresh smell of impending doom and failure, along with the manager doesn't know what he's doing wafting out of the place...

Crowd will make a big difference come Saturday. It wasn’t an enjoyable watch but as you rightly pointed out it’s a preseason game with absolutely nothing riding on it. The lack of commitment at times from both teams in the first half for a tackle was clear to see. It’s just frustrating that’s all. Buzzing before hand but couldn’t wait for it to end turn 75 minutes.

F$$$ me.............................Ive got to say, talk about doom and F$$$ing gloom

Just days ago, we were going straight up, and now.....?????? open the haters arms

Harris out
JB out
Sack the board
GR out

I dont give a flying F£££ about the pre season. How many years do we get into top gear after Christmas ......... or have a bad pre season and do really well ......

If we dont have a great season, it sure wont be for the want of trying, and buying.

I'll back him all the way, maybe GR doesnt want to be readable, so as the other teams have no idea either...........

Everyone needs to just chill out .................
