Fans being banned for what?

Another two teenage Millwall fans received letters informing them that the club have banned indefinitely them from all matches and from the land around the ground after taking ‘advice’ from the police. These young supporters have been following the club all over the country, have not been proven to be involved in disorder and have no ongoing investigations from the old bill.

This is seemingly the latest in a line of bans being issued by the club it would seem simply on the word of the police and/or stewards. It doesn’t sit right with me that any fan could at any moment find themselves barred from the club at the behest of a copper who takes a dislike to you.

You could argue that the club is its own business and it’s up to them who they let in but it cannot be right that Met Police FIOs or a club lackey like lurch can have someone banned without providing any evidence or offering any right of defence for those involved. The club have taken a lot of plaudits in the last few years over how things have improved in fan communications but in my opinion these bans stink of victimisation and is bordering on the sinister.

It stinks mate but the problem is The Den is private property and the club can ban who they want and with little or no particular reason.

Have to say and it's something that's been asked by many but how the fuck has Lurch got a pass for so long long. The geezer is retarded yet allowed to work in crowd control and safety. On top of that he's a grass, a malicious jobs worth and bully when in numbers. How he hasn't been properly weighed in is a complete fucking mystery. He was warned off by one of my lot at an away game last season. Cunt was like a boil on an arsehole, where we went he appeared. I proper gave it to him out of earshot of OB and he just stood there with that vacant look on his face. You could almost here the wind whisling between his lugholes of that empty brain.

He shouldn't be allowed out in public never mind act as security. Last season a kid ran on the pitch. Could have been no older than nine. Lurch got hold of him outside afterwards and tried to hold him. Me and a pal was right next to him. What you doing ya cunt? He ran on the pitch and i'm pulling him in. Get your fucking hands off of him or you'll get pinged.Just doing my job- get your hands off you cunt- last warning-

The kids guardian hadn't come out yet. So i tell the kid to wait by me and my mate and he'll be sweet. Lurch the cunt is telling OB through his moth piece that he needs back up. Then he tries to contain the kid again in front of a growing and very angry crowd. Calls for OB then bang he gets one on the chin. Over security arrive and it boils over. Whilst rhis is happening the bully steward bird with the dyed blond hair and fake tan pushes a very elderly wall fan with force and without provocation. Eventually OB come and things immer down.

As many of you know i work the clubs and festivals. I often have security around me and others doing the door. Each and evryone of them is trained in diplomacy and how to defuse hairy situations. It's a requisite of the job and one of several tests you must pass before you get your licence. It is also a requirement for crowd control at football.

Lurch is a full weight cabbage, he has no mediation skills, zero communication skills and can't keep his head in a volatile situation yet our club employ this cunt to keep supporters safe. He is a liabilty and danger. I wouldn't wouldn't give him the bouncers job at mothercare.

As a club wall get so many things right but have got this one wholly wrong. Crowd safety is vital and they've put in charge a cross between forest gump and Roland from Grange fucking Hill.

A club like other indeed. Treat your customers like terrorists and potential criminals and get an 18 stone, grunting retard to spy on them.
 
This does absolutely nothing, but show that once we step onto the club's property, all our rights are over ruled by what any cops or stewards deem as inappropriate behaviour.
Surely anyone with a brain is aware that sometimes emotions can run high at a game, and should be able to deal with any perceived incident with conflict de-escalation a priority.
Unless the club have concrete evidence that anyone has broken the law on their premises, then surely any individual affected by one of these vans has a right to appeal such a decision, and defend themselves?
It would be beneficial if somehow we could "return the serve", and somehow approach the board to enquire that if they're quick enough to issue bans to supporters for no apparent reason, then they should be willing to put in place a means for a supporter to dispute the accusation.

What i'm going to say might not match evreyones experience but in genaral the OB when in the stands for a risk game are okay. They keep there distance and try not to inflame anything when things get a bit heated. They know were are volatile and will steam in so they don't go to heavy handed. Same as when we go away. Stoke OB treated us with respect, not like cattle and stood off when escorting us out of a boozer that we left in Stafford. It was flag day and all our boys was out. The OB turned up at our pub minutes after we arrived, let us know they were there, told us to enjoy ourselves and left and watched us from a distance.

Stewards on the other hand are a fucking nightmare, No etiquette or dipllomacy. They panic and make rash decisions and have no skills in defusing sticky situations. They think wearing a hi viz gives them the agency to man handle you. They have no rights to do that as they're just a civilian like me and you. They have no rights to search you or a bag that you may be carrying yet they're asked to do so. They remind me of the school bully, a coward on his own but brave in a group.

Lurch must think he's won the lottery. He's got the hi viz and a walkie talkie. All he's short of is a sherrifs badge and a brain.
 
Going back to the days when Clayton was around he pretty much knew everyone who would start trouble, would get involved if trouble broke out and those that would react if caught up in trouble but back then you could only get nicked/banned if you were caught actually doing something. It was very cat and mouse and we all knew the score.
These bans because they perceive they might cause problems at some point is discriminatory in the extreme. The two of them are young and probably more passionate then nasty, they obviously know who they are so observe them and act if they do play up.

Lurch is a massive embarrassment to the club. I don’t know what his role is supposed to be but it seems that he is just a general dogsbody. I’ve seen him getting off the team coach at away games dressed in full Millwall training kit carrying the water bottles, he looks fucking ridiculous. What kind of impression does that give off to the opposition when they see this dopey bastard first off the official team coach? The club released a video a few months ago of the players at Calmont Rd and in the background was silly bollocks dressed in a full chefs outfit, I mean fucking hell.

I’ve also seen him at higher profile away matches though in a whistle and his stupid earpiece standing with the old bill and home stewards, the steroided up types, getting busy pointing bods out, normally youngsters. What a fucking dog. I’ve no problem with the uni kids doing a bit of stewarding, helping old folk to their seats and whatever, they are just trying to earn a little bit of extra cash but what Lurch and a his like get up to is totally different.

As for the old bill there seems to be a discrepancy in the way they treat older bods and the younger lot. They constantly harass and bully the teenagers, threaten to get them banned and in an increasing number of cases are actually carrying that out, it’s totally wrong. I’m amazed that the metropolitan police have the manpower, resources and time to devote to targeting teenage football fans what with the soaring number of street robberies, knife crime and sexual assaults being carried out under their watch. Easy nickings and more funding perhaps?

One of the best things about Millwall is that youngsters can go with their mates and have a laugh and learn and experience all the things that make our club what it is. Camaraderie, loyalty, passion and a deep sense of pride in the club. If that link is broken like it has been at our bigger neighbouring clubs then a massive part of the DNA of Millwall will be lost.

I always remember telling my sons on their wall travels not to run when the police are trying to force them, this I told them this was their training exercises in crowd control.
I think it was at Wigan when the Police were bashing their riot shields with their batons and many were on their toes. My son bent down to tie his shoelace and they all stopped and lowered their shields and batons and just walked behind him.

Absolutely right Peckham. Lurch is a total cunt and gets OB as soon as he can to back him up. He tries to bully all the time but you stand up to him he melts and calls for help.

Probably filling a diversity quota when it comes to Lurch.
The club love a bit of 'look at us and what do for the community' which is all well and good and then that work is all undone when innocent until proven guilty supporters are binned and more often than not proven to be guilty.
 
Is this a Football Banning Order (FBO). If so this will show on police checks and is a legal thing. They should ask the club if this is the case or is it some ad hoc lazy version the police are using. FBO's can be challenged and you can request details from the Police that they have to comply with. If its the lazy police version you could ask the club and if they wont provide the info put in a Police complaint (lack of transparency & due process etc).

I was in the Argyle Arms years ago (opposite the London palladium ) and lurch was doing the pub security in there, he very nearly took a shoeing of a mob of northerners for getting stroppy with one of them, he had to go behind the jump until the old bill turned up, the other one I can’t stand is that supervisor 🤔 little cocky bloke always prevalent in front of the dockers lower, smiles at everyone cracking orders at the security staff along the perimeter, seen him zoom away from the den on an E’scooter or whatever their called, chats to that bod who’s always outside the players entrance who looks like something out of Michael Bentines potty time, black woolen hat and sunglasses, with dreadlocks, white bloke 😂😂
 
In all the years I stewarded at the old ground I never had any trouble with our fans. Treat people with respect and don't take yourself too seriously and things stay calm. This bloke will cross the wrong person one day and get decked.
 
I don't know the alleged reasons that these two have been banned, but generally this is the kind of thing that makes me find all the published club promotional bullshit stating 'Millwall family', 'stronger together' and 'make the den an intimidating atmosphere' cringeworthy.
Families have each others backs and as soon as anyone becomes intimidating the club want them banned.
