Defending corners

We didn’t look threatening at corners again but that might have something to do with us not having any on Saturday 😉

The only problem with our defensive set up on corners is he does what wisey used to and pull everyone back. He needs to at least have one player, preferably a fast one, up the pitch as an outlet to relieve the pressure which also will take two of the opposition out of the penalty area.

Watched a game and the manager put 3 on the halfway line.....oppo who's corner it was had to put 3/4 players back Just in case.....worth a try ?

As long as you have an outlet to relieve the pressure otherwise the ball just comes back again. Never understood Wisey doing it (as he has a brain unlike Drawett) especially if you have small players who are not going to win any headers.

So frustrating when we have 11 in the box at corners. Jed is an obvious choice with his speed, I'd go 2 someone like Ojo if hes playing as hes hardly going to stick his foot or head in where it hurts.
It pulls 3, maybe even 4 of them back and stops the ball coming straight back in..

Never understand bringing everyone back for a corner. Leave 3 or 4 if our fastest out of the box they will mark them all and leave another spare. Worst way makes it less congested for Bart to pick the ball out the air.

Yes, have Ojo and either Malone or Jed on the halfway line (or all three), which would force the opposition to keep at least two of their defenders back for cover, and if one (or both of them) are tall fuckers, then there’s no chance of them being in our box, to tower over our players, and score a goal!

Memo to Drawett:

Dear Gary…..

We must have had 12 against Luton all which were wasted by poor delvery, one after the other with no variation.
Agree and, more importantly, no variation.

Throw in most of them are aimed at Cooper who struggles to head the ball down or accurately back and I’m not sure we are as greater threat at dead ball situations as we are lead to believe :shake:

Did the stadium tour today with son and two grandchildren, speaking to the tour guide and even he said he doesnt know why Rowett plays 5 at the back at home, and doesnt seem to like attacking.
