A question for those who don’t want Bomber

I’ll be surprised if more than one or two ever play for our first team, if that.
The wastage rate of young players is absolutely staggering, for a whole host of reasons.
Certainly don’t hold your breath waiting for them to appear.

This is a stick that is often used to hit the club or whoever the current manager is but it isn’t something that is unique to Millwall. Every year hundreds of young players are released by clubs across the country, when you think about it football is a finite game and there is only enough room in a first team squad for x amount of players so naturally only the very best will ever make it.

It’s understandable that fans get frustrated but it is simply the way it is and always will be. Every summer there is outrage when players are released with fans citing the familiar and now boring Eze example to criticise the club but the truth is that for every Eze there are countless numbers that don’t make it and it’s proven to be the correct decision by the club.

I was intending no criticism of the club whatsoever.
Just being realistic.

It';s not just them wanting to be entertained it's also them wanting us in the premier as though all you have to do is click your fingers. I said to my boy at the end of last season that Rowett was on a hiding to nothing after getting us so close to a play off spot. Literally 45 minutes away before we capitulated.

I also believed that due to certain clubs having an off season we were in a false position. Had the likes of West brom, Norwich and Watford been there usual selves we probably would never have sat in the top six positions for the best part of two months towards the end of the season.

I honestly didn't think we were good enough but we capitalized on the above mentioned teams having a rare bad season. Sadly that was the case and we finished where we deserved to be.

It's a shame that a section of our fans presumed that we were going to go one better this season and turned very quickly once they realized they'd been daft. No humility amongst them so Rowett gets it both barrels instead at Norwich. A sad and shameful day in our history and for me personally when they sang what they did.
I'm genuinely dismayed (yes I said dismayed) at the shit some fan's have been coming out with about getting into to premiership, like that's where we belong and should be going toe to toe with the likes of man c every week, I can only guess these pundits have only been coming down the den for 2 or 3 seasons. So know fuck all about Millwall and the ups and downs of supporting this club.In a stupid way it makes me feel guilty for moving to Norfolk so I'm not at 90% of home games and dicks like this have come in and taken my place in block 33.

Of course we’ve all got to get behind Harris now he’s been appointed but he wouldn’t have been my first choice.
Did anyone on here suggest he was even a possible candidate before the news broke?
If so I missed it
Thats where I am. You cant always get what you want but, sometimes you get what you need. As Mick Jagger said.

I have read with utter dismay today some of the comments on Facebook from some of our so-called fans. I could not be bothered to try and debate it with them on Facebook as I’m assuming they are just wind up merchants.

This is a serious question, if you do not think Bomber is the person to take charge at a time when we are deep in the dung with a team and fan base that needs galvanising who exactly would you want to take over at this very moment to try and keep us up?

I cannot think of anyone else available that I would rather entrust with the task at hand. I am genuinely interested to know who people would actually want instead of Bomber because I’m obviously missing something.
I think he's an appalling Manager, However he's tailor made for our situation, Any players not giving 100% will be in for a shock, The fact is NH is the Manager now and we need to get behind him.

I think last time we played Arsenal in the final they let go of all 11, only Steve Sidwell went on to play at a high level, best youth player i've seen at the den was Dave Memett ,by the time he was 28 ended up at Fisher

Dave Mehmet played over 300 Senior games, hardly a youth who failed to go on and have a career, injury did for him in his 2nd spell at ours.

Mehmet made his debut last game of the season against Burnley, a few of the treatment boys used to work at St. Thomas's and that morning one was supposed to put a dismembered arm in the incinerator but brought it to the game put a Burnley scarf on it and on to the pitch it went in front of the Burnley keeper making his debut 😳

I’ll admit I was first shocked, then a bit deflated when I heard the news.
I accept the club was very much between a rock and a hard place. I desperately wanted JE to succeed, but I think only results over Christmas saved him from an even shorter tenure.

As for Neil now, let’s see how he has developed since he left us. 5 years is a long time and experience changes us all.

To answer the original question, I have no idea who we should have chosen. That’s not really my job. I’m a supporter. That’s what I do.
This is surely evidenced by the fact that last weekend I spent over a grand to watch what turned out to be Joe’s last game in charge.

It is for others to decide who the manager should be, based on far more knowledge than I will ever have, hopefully.

I love Neil, of course I do. I cried when he got ill after helping to give us our most successful season in living memory.
I’m just not sure he is the right choice now.
But, he will have my 100% support for however long he is our manager.
Totally agree he will have matured since leaving us but his results elsewhere have been average. And we were shambolic in his last matches. A No2 who is a buddy from 20 years back might suggest a lack of ambition/ depth. And, sorry, I see no future for any team surviving on 19% possession

That is surly a bit of a one off with that clown managing Southampton. But we too need to dominate games and you need the ball to do that. Fingers crossed we roll over Watford

Why is Livermore a lack of ambition? Do you know he holds the top coaching qualification you can get?

Forget the possession stats, Neil Harris had a game plan that let what is a premier team have as much of the ball that they wanted but he knew how to stop them getting a result by doing that.

A brilliant piece of management which took a lot of bottle in the situation we are in, if when we are guaranteed safety he plays the same way then questions need to be raised, on Saturday he picked the right team to get the job done and that team carried out his orders to perfection.

Good as it was to get the result on Saturday, I'm not sure that I would want to watch that performance for 46 matches next season. However, if that's what's needed to ensure safety this season so be it.

Imo the time to start thinking about next season is 5 May or as soon as we are mathematically safe.

What has fucked us in the recent past is scoring goals and
I think the majority on here and elsewhere were honest would agree.
Not saying this is always how it is, but to defend an early single goal lead must mentally debilitating and physically fatiguing which could possibly cost injuries or mentally switching during a game and conceding.

I hope NH has learnt lessons over the seasons and if he has, can implement them accordingly.
