I once picked up Walter and Ally McCoist in my cab. My eyes lit up when they hailed me, I can talk football with them I thought.

Normally whenever anyone got in the back, I’d always try and strike up a conversation. If they didn’t want to know I’d leave it, if they did we’d have a chat.

On this occasion they were so rapt in conversation and laughter with each other there was no opportunity for me to interrupt and bore the tits off them both by mentioning Millwall.

I dropped them off at Goodman’s in Maddox Street, just off Regent Street.

RIP Walter.

We would rip this league apart with a team like that today.
