Young striker Alfie Pavey has today signed a new deal with Millwall keeping him on our books until the summer of 2017.

With Ian Holloway talking only a few days ago of the importance of developing our own talent in the future and keeping the pathway open to the first team from our Academy ranks, Pavey has impressed enough during his continuing development to be offered the new contract.

The 19 year old originally joined us from Maidstone United back in May 2013, signing a two year academy scholarship and he came to us having scored an incredible 124 goals during their Conference Youth Alliance title success.

In his time with us so far he has taken in a loan spell at Barnet last October, where he made three Conference appearances and he’s also become a regular in our Under 21 side, scoring most recently in the one all draw with Ipswich.

Speaking to the official site after penning the deal, he said.

‘I’m absolutely delighted. I would like to thank Chopper, the gaffer, Scott Fitzgerald, Dave Livermore, Justin Skinner and Birchy as well – I really couldn’t be happier. When I first came here I didn’t know what I was coming into. I’ve been here for a while now and I couldn’t ask for a better manager under Neil Harris.’

Pavey goes on to admit that he knows himself he still has a lot of development to do, and things that he has to work on but he’s delighted with the new deal and he’ll continue working hard to make that improvement so hopefully he can earn himself a a shot at the first team in the coming years.
