Millwall have announced an agreement with Southend United’s for David Worrall.

The 26 year old will become manager Neil Harris’ first capture of the summer, and the winger will join us officially on July 1 when his contract at Roots Hall expires.

He has signed a two year deal with the club, with an option already built in for a further 12 months.

Having spent two seasons with Southend, he comes in with 84 appearances to his name, and further game time at sides like Bury and Oldham.

Speaking to the official site Harris explained.

‘David carries the ball up the pitch well and has good delivery. He adds something different to the team; the type of thing we saw a lot last season when we had Jed Wallace on loan. David has good experience of this division and played extremely well when I watched him last year. He comes with really good references on his character from people I know well. He has played right-wing for most of his career but has also played as an attacking option at right-back and a lot on the left-hand side. We’re delighted to get him as there was a lot of competition for his signature.’

Prior to the agreement being announced Harris had said work was ongoing and he felt we were close to a deal, and presumably that was Worrall – so now we see how quickly he can move on his desire for another defender.
