Martyn Woolford has said that Millwall’s fantastic start to the season so far is down to one man, and that’s manager Ian Holloway.
We are now building to Tuesday’s game against Sheffield Wednesday and everyone is hoping we can extend our unbeaten run to 12 matches now following on from how we ended last season, and with three wins under our belt so far, Woolford told the official site that obviously we are hoping to extend that to four wins so far this campaign.
‘It’s a great run. Even before the wins started coming the performances were getting to where we wanted them to be. We are getting our rewards from that and the wins keep building the confidence. It’s nearly all down to the manager. There have not been a lot of new faces, especially last season when we couldn’t win a game when he took over. But the way that he got us so organised in such a short period of time is a credit to how he works – the emphasis that he puts on the lads and the confidence that he gives us all.’
Woolford goes on to say that in many ways Holloway is a perfectionist so he’s always looking at every detail we can improve upon, and he’s not alone in thinking that’s a very good thing for us to have that kind of focus.
‘We are confident, regardless of the opposition, if we play our game and do the things the manager’s asking then we can pick up points wherever.’
