On Monday, Millwall confirmed that centre half Byron Webster had signed a new contract extension at the club.
The 29 year old joined us from Yeovil back in 2014, and he’s gone on to make 66 appearances for the club since then – 50 of which came last season as he established himself at the heart of manager Neil Harris’ defence.
Having got on the scoresheet in the League Two opener at the weekend against Oldham Athletic, Webster has now signed on at the club on a deal that will expire in the summer of 2018.
Speaking to the official site after penning the deal, he explained.
‘I’m really pleased. It was a very easy decision for me to make because I’m really enjoying my time here at Millwall. There is a great group of lads here and I’m looking forward to playing a part in what we all hope will be a successful season for the club.’
Manager Neil Harris went on to add.
‘I’m delighted that we have been able to secure Byron’s future with Millwall. He is a real leader on the pitch and inside the dressing room and is just the type of character and personality we want at this football club. Byron’s performances last year were immense and he’ll be looking to build on that level in the months ahead.’
