New signing Byron Webster has said he can’t wait to get going at Millwall now and face The Den atmosphere with the supporters cheering him on.
The 27 year old centre half tasted the Millwall experience twice last season for Yeovil during their year in the Championship, and he helped them to an unexpected victory on the opening day of the campaign on our soil, before we then took a point later in the season in the return fixture.
Having penned his two year deal, having successfully passed his medical, Webster told the official site.
‘I can’t wait to get started and to start the season with a game against Leeds, my home town club, is going to be great.’
The players return properly for the first time this Thursday for pre season training and a meet up and this will be the first chance Byron gets to meet his new team mates, but he will obviously have a familiar face in the shape of former Yeovil midfielder Ed Upson who joined us at the turn of the year.
‘I spoke to Ed and he’s been giving me a heads up and speaks very highly about the club, I’m just really looking forward to starting on Thursday.’
Should certainly help strengthen our defensive unit as he did look impressive for Yeovil, and when they had their better games last season Webster was a key factor in that from what I could tell, so if he can raise his game more consistently he could prove to be a very good capture by Ian Holloway as we look to kick on ourselves.
