The League 1 season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
Sheffield United’s lead at the top was cut when Fleetwood who jumped above Scunthorpe into the second automatic promotion spot. Swindon, Port Vale, Chesterfield and Coventry face the drop.

Sheffield United’s lead at the top was reduced by a couple of points after a 3-3 draw with Rochdale – who are now eight without a win – at Spotland.
It’s now four without a win for Bolton after the Trotters were held to a 1-1 draw by Wimbledon – the Dons are four without defeat themselves – to see their automatic promotion hopes dealt another blow.
Bradford remain in the race to secure automatic promotion after a 1-0 win over Peterborough. Posh continue to struggle with this seventh defeat in 10 with the top six now eight points away.
A first defeat in six – after four wins – for Bury keeps them in relegation trouble. Gillingham’s 2-1 win – a second in three – took the Gills six points clear of the bottom four.
Millwall’s added time penalty secured a 2-1 victory over MK Dons at the Den. They remain in sixth and now hold a four point advantage over Southend.
A first Northampton win over Charlton in 50 years was secured when the Cobblers – for a first victory in four – ran out 2-1 winners at Sixfields. A second half winner condemned the Addicks to a fourth straight defeat – a fifth in six – to see the relegation positions just six points away.
Oxford’s play-off chances were damaged when Bristol Rovers recorded a 2-0 win at the Kassam Stadium to move above the U’s into eighth. The Pirates – after six successive draws – victory keeps them seven points off the top six.
A second successive Scunthorpe defeat – with four suffered in a seven game winless run – was suffered when promotion rivals Fleetwood won at Glanford Park. The Cod Army’s 2-0 victory took them above the Iron in the second automatic promotion position and to within five points of leaders Sheffield United.
Shrewsbury saw a penalty saved in a 0-0 draw with bottom of the league Coventry at Greenhous Meadow. The Shrews dropped to 18th but are still six points clear of danger whereas the Sky Blues – having won just once in 10 – are 13 points adrift of safety.
A late Southend equaliser against Port Vale rescued the Shrimps a points from a 1-1 draw at Roots Hall but it saw the gap to the play-offs extended to four points. Vale’s winless run was extended to nine. However, safety was reduced to four points.
Swindon’s first defeat in four was suffered when relegation rivals Chesterfield left the County Ground with a 1-0 win. The Robins remain three points from safety with the Spireites’ first win in eight secured in added time to close the gap on Oldham – outside of the bottom four – to eight points.
A second win in two for Walsall came at the expense of Oldham. The Latics’ first defeat in six was suffered at the Banks’s Stadium when the Saddlers ran out 2-0 winners.
