Scunthorpe suffered a surprising defeat at Oldham, but this didn’t cost them top spot with the two-nil defeat at Boundary Park also not enough to take the Latics out of the bottom four themselves.
After being held to a one-one draw by Southend at Valley Parade Bradford missed the chance to further close the gap on the leaders with goal-difference alone keeping Bolton from automatic promotion after they won two-nil at Millwall, who weren’t able to build on a weekend win.
The poor Bury form carried on with a two-one defeat at Gigg Lane against Wimbledon seeing them drop out of the play-off places, which is something Port Vale held after scoring a late equaliser against Charlton to deny the Addicks another win in a one-one draw at Vale Park.
Sheffield United continued a fine run of form in League 1 carried on with Shrewsbury’s worries ongoing, the Shrews stayed in the bottom four with the Blades very much keeping a play-off place and now just a point of automatic promotion.
A couple of surprising results saw Coventry record a two-one win over Oxford at the Ricoh Arena with this moving the Sky Blues off the foot of the league with another struggling side Swindon picking up an impressive three-nil win over Rochdale, who hard roared up the table recently. Dale did retain a play-off position though.
