Midfielder Ed Upson has said he’s looking forward to getting more game time under his belt in the coming pre season friendlies after getting a first half run out in the recent win over Dartford.

Speaking to the official site as we build up for the Stevenage friendly this weekend before then facing Real Mallorca on home soil, Upson explained.

‘All pre season games are tough, especially the first one. But I enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to the next one against Stevenage and the ones after that because it’s the games that get your properly fit for when the season starts.’

Upson adds that manager Ian Holloway has already spent plenty of time drilling the boys in the style he wants us to play this season, and he hopes that this season we can really master that style and make it count – especially with how we ended the season unbeaten when the gaffer’s efforts on the training pitch really did start to show through the team as the adjusted properly to what he wanted.

‘It’s about putting everything together so that we can start the season on the same wavelength.’

Obviously with former Yeovil colleague Byron Webster joining up this summer, Upson says he’s fitted in really well, and as he expected, he’s hit the ground running in training and he’s really working hard to try and cement that first team place in the defence for the coming campaign now he’s with us.
