Midfielder Ben Thompson has today signed a new deal with Millwall.
The 20 year old Academy graduate’s new deal sees him contracted to the club until the summer of 2017, and it’s a just reward for his progress since joining us as a fresh faced 16 year old as the boyhood fan now has 15 appearances to his name so far this season, building on his debut against Southampton in the Capital One Cup last season.
Speaking to the official site after signing the deal, the youngster explained that his target now was obviously to get more first team match minutes to continue his development.
‘I’m delighted to have extended my contract. I’m really enjoying being a part of the first team, training and playing with a great set of lads and learning from the management team. Hopefully I can push into the starting Xl more and more in the coming months and make a positive impact on and off the pitch.’
Also speaking after the deal was manager Neil Harris who confirmed he’d been impressed with him, and as ever, was always keen to tie our potential talent down to longer deals.
‘It is important for us that we tie our best young players down. Ben’s new contract with us is just reward for his performances, his dedication, his commitment and his desire to improve, and he has earned this. I’m really pleased for him.’
