Defender Alan Dunne has said that the fans simply deserve better than what the team are serving up at the moment and they certainly deserve better than a four nil loss to Bradford City.

Speaking to the official site following the embarrassing exit from the FA Cup last night, Dunne said that we couldn’t use being reduced to ten men as an excuse for the overall performance that the ten players put in after that.

‘As players we have a responsibility once we cross that white line to do our jobs and play with pride, commitment and passion for the cause. Unfortunately losing Mark Beevers so early in the game and then going a goal behind little more than a minute later was a big blow, but that does not in any way excuse our performance over the entire 90 minutes.’

Dunne goes on to say that on ‘behalf of the players’ he wanted to extend an apology to the fans as manager Ian Holloway had already done, because everybody in the dressing room knew that the fans deserved far more ‘that what we are offering up at the moment’.

‘We understand the frustration and hurt in the stands and it is about time we put things right. We are letting the fans down at the moment, as well as the manager and the chairman, and it’s time to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and man up.’

He goes on to say that the management and coaching staff have been brilliant with them as players, and last season we pulled ourselves out of the hole we had dug, and we simply need to do it again now – especially as we have more time to get it right this season but we’ll only take advantage of that extra if we start improving now.
