New skipper Alan Dunne has called on the defence to really tighten up ahead of the game against Nottingham Forest this weekend.
With two losses on the bounce now, Dunne told the official site that there is some clear improvement we need to do at the back as we look to draw a line under those losses.
‘We have to cut out the mistakes we’re making at the back and quickly. But you have to take positives from how we played against Reading. It reminds me a little bit of last year when we were playing well but conceding one or two soft goals that cost us at the time.’
Dunne goes on to say that on paper and in reality Forest will be the toughest test of the season for us so far, but he feels that we are prepared, we are in good spirits and the players have the belief that if we play to our best we can cause an upset and that’s exactly what they’ll be hoping to achieve this weekend.
‘We believe our style of play can hurt any team in this division so there’s just a focus on cutting out the little defensive mistakes and improving other bits here and there.’
Dunne says that there is nothing drastic we need to work on though, it’s a case of those fine margins in games that swing results we have to pay attention to and make sure they start falling for us again like they did earlier in the season, and of course part of that is keeping clean sheets because it gives you the basis for a one nil win.
