Following the game against Derby, it has now been confirmed that defender Danny Shittu has sustained an achilles injury which has effectively ended his season.

Speaking to the official site physio Bobby Bacic confirmed that he would be out until May injured, so even if he can get himself ahead of schedule, when you factor in returning to full fitness it’s very unlikely he would make it back in time to play any part on May 3rd when we face Bournemouth.

‘Danny will effectively be ruled out for the rest of the season. There are just over six weeks left and by the time Danny is due to recover he will be short of match fitness.’

Bacic goes on to say that he’s in a protective boot at the moment and he will be for the next three weeks, so there’s no way he can really keep up a level of fitness that would keep him in contention for even our final game of the season, as once he comes out of the boot he’ll be scheduled for a fortnight of low level loading and exercise to he doesn’t overdo things anyway.

In slightly better injury news, Nicky Bailey is set to return to group training tomorrow and over the next seven days it’s hoped he will be fully back in the swing of things, but will most likely need at least one reserve outing before being considered for the bench.

Jermaine Easter is also recovering well from his thigh strain, but will miss the Leeds match before hopefully returning to contention.

A few others may be ruled out as well but they will be assessed as the week closes out.
