Right back Mahlon Romeo has penned a new deal this afternoon at Millwall seeing him contracted up until the summer of 2019.

Since his breakthrough into the first team in February 2016, Romeo now has 58 appearances to his name for the club and the deal also includes an option for a further 12 months.

Speaking to the official site after signing the deal, Romeo explained it was an ‘easy decision’ given how life at the club was going for him.

‘I’m really happy about it. We are in The Championship now and we have a really good squad that I’m really glad to be a part of. It was an easy decision. I am delighted that the offer was made and I am raring to go and start the season. I think we have what it takes to do well in this division.’

Romeo went on to say.

‘Everyone is happy to be back and we are all really excited and ready to go. We know what is to come. There is a lot of high quality in this League, but I think we are ready for the challenge.’

Manager Neil Harris went on to add.

‘This is just reward for Mahlon. Since he made his debut 18 months ago, he has quickly become an important member of the first team squad and will be looking forward to testing himself at a higher level in The Championship.’

Adding.

‘Mahlon has returned in great shape for pre-season training and now this contract has been signed, he can continue to focus on working hard ahead of the new campaign.’
