Skipper Paul Robinson has called on the squad to give the fans some Christmas cheer when we face Watford on Boxing Day and bring an end to our current form away from home.
Speaking to the official site given our precarious placement in the league again at this moment in time, Robinson said that our run of upcoming fixtures is the perfect time to turn around our away form and that’s exactly what everybody is going to be focused on.
‘The games are coming thick and fast and the match at Watford gives us a chance to immediately bounce back from what was a disappointing performance and result on Saturday. The players are working as hard as ever on the training ground and there is a confidence and belief within us that we can start winning games on a regular basis sooner rather than later.’
Robinson goes on to say that everybody was disappointed following the Middlesbrough match, but each of the players know it is ultimately down to them to put that right when we step out on to the pitch on Boxing Day, and our best chance of doing that is by everybody pulling in the same direction and we simply must get back to showing the intensity and the quality of performance that we know we can put in over 90 minutes.
In terms of selections for the game, manager Steve Lomas has welcomed back to training a trio of injuries.
Lee Martin, Richard Chaplow and Nicky Bailey were all due to train today and they will be monitored over the next few days to see whether they can play a part in the game.
For Bobby Bacic with the gash that Paul Robinson suffered in the Boro game, it’s three on the trot where players have had to be stitched up following a game, and clearly he hopes that’s a run that doesn’t continue either.
