Defender Alan Dunne says that he and his team mates couldn’t have wished for a better start to 2014-15 than to face Leeds United at The Den.
With the release of the fixtures yesterday, anticipation for the new season has certainly taken it’s grip, and speaking to the official site Dunne says we couldn’t have wished for a better start really.
Leeds at home on the opening day, a London derby with relegated Fulham, newly promoted Rotherham, and of course Ian Holloway’s old club Blackpool all feature in our first five games of the season – Sheffield Wednesday being the other one.
‘To start with a game at The Den against Leeds is exciting. It’s the perfect opening day game. The fans will be there in numbers so it promises to be a cracking atmosphere. As a player you look to all the really big games, especially the local derbies, so to get one at Fulham in the second week of the season is great for us. I can’t wait for pre season to start. There’s some hard work to be done between now and August 9th but we’ll be ready.’
A good home start to the season will certainly give us the momentum and motivation to really kick off this new campaign with the form that we ended last season in, and of course a good start to the first five fixtures will set us up nicely to achieve our aim this season which is to challenge at the right end of the table and be as far away from any relegation worries as we can be.
