Millwall striker Ben May admits he was champing at the bit to finally get back in action after his injury woe.

May marked his return to fitness with a goal just two minutes after coming off the bench against Bournemouth on Tuesday.

The targetman has been sidelined all season after shoulder surgery and was frustrated to have to watch as the team struggled.

Now he hopes to fire the Lions clear of the relegation zone and said: ”It was nice to be out there and great to get a goal.

‘I’ve been in the treatment room for over six months and it was not something I would want to do again.

‘To get back training and now playing again is a really good feeling.

‘I’ve watched all our home games this season and seen the number of balls going into the box wanting to be out there getting on the end of them.

‘That was what was lacking for much of last year, good crosses, but it was a great delivery by Chris Hackett for my goal against Bournemouth.’
