Manager Neil Harris has hailed the players for an outstanding performance as we beat Charlton two one at the weekend.
Having gained a man advantage, following our very bright start to the game, we recovered from going a goal behind and scored twice late on in the second half to take a much needed three points and confidence boost.
Speaking to the official site following the game, a happy Harris explained.
‘I made the team a promise that we would win if we played as we could and I’m so glad I didn’t break that promise. I thought we were outstanding in the game and I’m absolutely delighted for the players. Their goal was a blow but we kept going and going and I thought our spirit was phenomenal. We kept doing the right thing. The boys are giving me and Dave Livermore absolutely everything and I cannot fault them in any way.’
Harris went on to say that there is a real sense of belief amongst the players at the moment and they’ve made that belief for themselves so to have backed that up with the win – the first at The Den since October pulling us to within four points of safety – he couldn’t be more pleased for them or the fans.
‘The fans work hard and pay their money to come and see us. Their support has been brilliant. We are where we are in the League but they are right behind the players and that is a huge help for us. Even at 1-0 down the fans kept going for us and they played a massive part.’
