Manager Ian Holloway has admitted that so far he’s very pleased with the efforts on our mini mid season training camp, and he hopes it reaps the appropriate rewards when we return to on pitch action.

Not only have the Millwall players been out on a training pitch regularly working on tactics and fitness level, but Holloway has said he’s also had them in the classroom as well in an effort to make sure they all take the very most they can from this time together.

Speaking to the official site the gaffer explained that in an ideal world he’d have pre season to do this with the players and could’ve spread it a bit more sensibly over a period of seven to eight weeks so whilst it won’t naturally be as useful as a proper pre season build up, it’s about making every minute count, taking everything we can from it, and ensuring that it’s only a week, that this week counts for as much as it can do at this stage of our season.

‘The players have been doing three sessions a day, two on the training ground and one in the classroom. What they have to learn is my theories, philosophies and my regime. I’ve been delighted with the response I’ve had.’

With Millwall often in the news for the wrong reasons, Holloway has also proudly said that the owners of the training camp have commented to him that the players are one of the best groups of lads they have ever hosted, and he expects that professionalism and attitude to carry through during his time at the club.

With the window still open, and Holloway already having made two moves in it, this camp is also a good chance for him to quickly assess the players when it comes to what further moves he may make before the end of January and he’s pretty adamant that if he needs to add to the squad he will do so, but again his priority is to give these bunch of lads the chance to stake their claim, and again he’s been pleased to see them take that opportunity with both hands so far.
