Manager Neil Harris has said that with how the FA Cup first round can often be a great leveller in the football pyramid, Millwall can have no complacency ahead of our game with AFC Fydle this weekend.
Speaking to the official site in his pre game press conference, the manager explained that both sides on Saturday were on a ‘level playing field’.
With the opposition having had a great start to their National League North campaign with ten wins from their opening 14 games, Harris knows they come into the match in good form and confidence and having hit 31 league goals so far, clearly they carry a threat.
‘The game presents us with a new and exciting challenge. We are still approaching the match just the same as if we were playing a top-of-the-table side in League One. We have had the opposition watched, have studied videos and the players have prepared meticulously for this tie. We are as prepared for this match as we would be for any League game this season.’
Harris went on to say that through our homework of them we know clearly what a good side they are and in his opinion they will have little trouble in securing promotion for themselves this year.
‘What we have seen of AFC Fylde has displayed just what a good side they are. With the start they have made they shouldn’t have much of a problem being promoted from their division this season, though it is still a tough League. We know that they are a talented side with an attractive style of play and, as the FA Cup always does, every team goes into each tie on a level playing field.’
