Millwall may have lost the game against Bournemouth two nil, but Academy product Sid Nelson had plenty to celebrate when he looked past the result.
Making his senior debut for the club following the 18 year old’s progression over the last few years, he only found out he’d be in the starting line up on Sunday when manager Ian Holloway told him.
As explained by the gaffer, Sid and his family are all avid Lions anyway, so were at the game and missing his big moment was never in question.
Speaking to the official site a proud and beaming – albeit disappointed with the result – Nelson explained.
‘It was a very emotional day for me, to finally play for the team I have supported growing up. I signed as an eight year old, and it was always my dream to play for the first team. The fact I was up against Callum Wilson (£3m Championship top scorer) and did okay certainly gives me hope going into any game from now on.’
Be interesting to see if Holloway gives him a start in the next game or takes him out so he can take the experience in so to speak.
