Striker Steve Morison has said that he feels the squad should be confident that Millwall can progress further as a club during the 2016/17 season.
Having almost won promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking in 2015/16 and missing out in the Wembley Play Off Final, Morison told the official site that with a pre season training return on the horizon now, he felt that plenty of lessons can be learned from next season, and if we put those into practice, further improvements will be made.
‘We certainly won’t be dwelling on what happened at Wembley. Instead we’ll be looking back at what a great year we had and trying to use it as a platform to build on for this coming season. On a personal level I felt better and better as last season went on but ultimately, in terms of how well you play as an individual, that all comes down to the team and how we perform as a unit. In the second-half of the season especially we played some good football and picked up some impressive results along the way.’
He went on to say.
‘We will be better from the experience of last year and with the new signings we’ve made, as well as the fact the younger players have many more games under their belts, then we have to be confident that we can progress further.’
Having missed out on Play Off promotion last term, the aim has to be to get into those automatic spots this year and keep our future more in our own hands.
