Millwall’s fate this season was sealed last night as Rotherham took all three points from Reading to secure their survival and send us out of the Championship.

A hard fought five year stay in the second tier came to an end after their two one victory, and leaves us four points shy of safety with only three points left to play for.

Blackpool had long been confirmed as heading for League One for 2015-16 and we now join them and Wigan Athletic.

In quotes carried by the press from manager Neil Harris following the confirmation, he said.

‘We’re bitterly disappointed but the league table doesn`t lie. This has been the third season in a row which has been touch-and-go. We’ve not been able to stabilise or kick on. There’s been a lot of hard work and effort but we’ve not picked up enough points. That’s the reality and we have to accept that.’

With Harris talking himself about the job previously when it came to taking it on a permanent basis and the fact he was in a lot better position this time round than he was last time he caretakered, it’s long been speculated it was his job to lose and with a turn in form and his impressive handling of himself with the press, the fans and the team it’s being said today that the club will now move swiftly and appoint him for next season so plans can take place for the summer.

Depending on which outlet you believe, he’ll be appointed today, before the weekend or immediately after the Wolverhampton Wanderers match.

Whenever it takes place, it has looked likely for a while and it’ll be interesting to see what he can do with a pre season, his own squad and a full season under his belt where we aren’t battling against the tide from his first minute in charge.
