The Football League have recently confirmed the first Wembley showpiece dates for the second half of the 2015-16 season.

Trips to the National Stadium for sides in the Championship, League One and Two will not begin with the Capital One Cup Final, as it continues to come first in the calender. We then have the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final before we go onto the Divisional Play Off Finals for the year.

The League Cup Final kicks off at 4.30pm on Sunday February 28 and this year will be contested between either Everton or Manchester City and Stoke City or Liverpool who are yet to decide their semi final ties.

The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final will follow on Sunday April 3 with a 2.30pm kick off time.

With the Area Finals set but yet to be played, this years competition could still be claimed by Fleetwood Town or Barnsley and Millwall or Oxford United.

With leeway in League One and the Play Off spots, but being out of both the League and FA Cup, this could be Millwall’s best chance of a Wembley trip this year and of course for the league campaign, there remains hope for the automatic spots.

Next up for Wembley with a heavy Football League slant, will be the Play Off Finals over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Six, yet to be determined (although even at this stage of the year we have some favourites) clubs will battle it out for the prize of pushing themselves one level higher in the football pyramid for 2016-17, and as is customary, League Two’s final promotion slot will bring the campaign to a close.

Capital One Cup Final – Sunday 28th February 2016 – 4:30pm
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final – Sunday 3rd April 2016 – 2:30pm
Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final – Saturday 28th May 2016 – 5pm
Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off Final – Sunday 29th May 2016 – 3pm
Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off Final – Monday 30th May 2016 – 3pm

Kick off times are subject to police intelligence, but any changes will be communicated well in advance of the games.

This year’s FA Cup Final has been scheduled for Saturday May 21 – kick off time to be confirmed.
