Earlier this week Millwall announced the signing of Conor McLaughlin on a two year deal and the 25 year old is pleased to have finally got the deal done.

He comes in as our fifth signing of the summer following on from James Meredith, Tom Elliott, Jed Wallace and George Saville and the former Fleetwood Town right make has made over 200 appearances during his five year spell at Highbury.

He also has 22 caps for Northern Ireland.

Speaking to the official site after the ink was dry on his two year deal, he explained.

‘I’m delighted to get everything signed. I first heard of Millwall’s interest towards the back end of last season, but I then went away on holiday and got married, so it took a bit of time – but I’m glad it’s all sorted now. I’m really looking forward to getting going. I just want to start and get to know my team-mates.’

Knowing Shane Ferguson from international duty he knows will help him settle in and he admitted he spoke to him ahead of completing the deal.

‘I sent Fergie a few texts and asked him what the club was like while we were away on international duty. He didn’t need to sell the club to me, but he said nothing but good things.’

Manager Neil Harris was also pleased to have secured his signature.

‘We’ve been chasing Conor all summer. He was one of the outstanding performers in League One last season and was voted by his peers into the Team of the Year – which is the biggest accolade you can have in professional football.’

Adding.

‘He’s a solid, reliable right-back, who is first and foremost a very good defender. He’s technically very good and has many caps for Northern Ireland. His character will blend in very well with the rest of the group.’
