Manager Steve Lomas has admitted that a lack of desire in our own penalty box was our downfall today in the match against Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking to the official site following the three two victory for the home side, Lomas was left lamenting our defensive showing again even though he was pleased with how we looked at the other end of the pitch.

‘We are masters of our own downfall and that is a concern. You couldn’t even say the goals we conceded were schoolboy. We have got to be nastier in our own box and we have to win those second balls. I’m so disappointed with the goals we’ve conceded.’

Lomas goes on to say that put simply we really do look a threat going forward, but the bottom line is we keep conceding soft goals and that is the only reason we aren’t further up the table and enjoying life in the league more this season.

The gaffer also confirmed that substituted Alan Dunne, who was stretchered off in the second half is ultimately okay, but he has suffered a nasty gash on his knee.

Hopefully it’s something that won’t keep him out for long, because if we are going to address our defensive frailties properly we need everybody fit, providing competition and pushing each other.
