Having taken a knock on his shin 15 minutes from time in the game against Queens Park Rangers, it’s highly likely that Lee Martin will now miss our final game of the season against Bournemouth next weekend.
Having been substituted following the knock, physio Bobby Bacic has told the official site that Martin suffered a nasty cut on his leg when he blocked a shot on the edge of the box, and it’s unlikely to clear up in time for our next must win match.
‘Lee suffered a very deep cut to his left leg. It was a painful one and in the end five internal and seven external stitches were needed to close the wound.’
Bacic goes on to thank Charing Cross Hospital for the care they gave to the player, but he will now unfortunately join Ed Upson and Danny Shittu in the treatment room, and although they are out also, he says their progress in the respective ankle and achilles injuries they sustained is coming along nicely.
