23 year old John Marquis has indicated he’d quite like to remain at Sixfields next season with Northampton Town, such is the success of his loan spell with them this year.

Having only made two starts for manager Neil Harris this term, his second return to Northampton has seen him score three in four starts and he was interviewed by the Northampton Chronicle recently, and he’s clearly enjoying his time at the club.

‘My time at Millwall has been very static and the next chapter was probably on the cards for me and I would like it to be at Northampton. First of all, though, the manager would have to want to keep me, but I`ve really enjoyed my time here. I feel like I fit in quite well here and I`ve played some good football in my career here so you never know. It`s down to other people so I`m just going to concentrate on playing and enjoying football again between now and the end of the season and see where it takes me.’

Having come through our Academy he has 28 starting appearances to his name with us, and a further 37 appearances from the bench, returning six goals in that time.

Having found himself behind Steve Morison, Lee Gregory and Aiden O’Brien in Harris’ pecking order, he headed back to Northampton – having had a loan spell with them back in the second half of the 2013-14 season – in February after spending the first half of the campaign largely with Leyton Orient.
