Millwall have decided to allow striker John Marquis to leave for a loan spell at League Two side Portsmouth.

The 21 year old has moved to the club on a month long emergency loan having only featured once for Millwall so far this season, that game coming in the Capital One Cup second round tie against Nottingham Forest.

He will join up with them tomorrow for training, and he will be in the squad for their game this weekend against Fleetwood Town.

This is Marquis’ first loan spell away from Millwall having come through our ranks, so it should be a good experience for him, and help get him up to proper match fitness with a run of games.

He made his debut for us against Bristol Rovers back in December 2009, and has since gone on to make 48 appearances for the club, scoring on 6 occasions.

Hopefully the spell will go well and he’ll return in some good form to really challenge for the first team again.
