Striker John Marquis has today joined Northampton Town on an emergency loan deal until May 3rd.

The 21 year old signed a new 12 month contract extension only the other week, and with manager Ian Holloway adding to his forward options with the signings of DJ Campbell and Simeon Jackson, the decision has been taken to get Marquis out for some good game time.

Emergency loans are usually for a month but they can be extended up to a maximum of 93 days and it appears that has been the decision made up front by Northampton, which hopefully for Marquis means they intend him to play a huge part between now and May.

If he does get a good run of games, then hopefully he’ll return high on confidence and give Holloway something to think about come next pre season.

So far in 2013-14 Marquis has played 14 games, but only three of those have come in our colours because he has been on loan to Portsmouth and Torquay. Across the season for his loan clubs he has scored five times.
