Manager Steve Lomas has said that Millwall could consider themselves a touch unlucky in the game against Burnley, because he feels we could’ve taken all three points.
Millwall took a two goal lead in the first half before Burnley grabbed themselves one back, just after we earned the two goal cushion, and then added a leveller in the second half, and it ended as an end to end battle entertaining battle, but for Lomas the disappointment of losing a two goal lead in the game, was overshadowed by all the positives he feels that the team can take from the match.
Speaking to the official site following the two all draw, Lomas said it was clear to everyone that we are improving on the pitch now, we are getting tighter in defence in general, and we are starting to take our chances and move the ball around better and he feels we can take a hell of a lot of heart from our last three draws given the quality of opposition we have faced.
‘We’ve now got to focus on turning these draws into win, if you can get two or three victories it can really push you up the table.’
Lomas does admit there were disappointing things from the game, such as their second goal from a defensive point of view and we ultimately paid the price for not defending well enough in the moment, but Burnley are a good side and are in form so it’s one of those things we have to accept, move on from, and make sure we don’t make the same ease of error again.
Scott Malone will also undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of his knee injury which forced him to leave the pitch after only seven minutes in the game.
Lomas’ concern is he feels it will be a bad one, so everybody has their fingers crossed that it won’t be as bad as originally feared.
