Manager Steve Lomas has hailed the character and commitment of the players following the two one win over Wigan.

Speaking to the official site following the game the gaffer said he thought that three points were no more than we deserved from the encounter given how we played and he was delighted with how we controlled the game over the 90 minutes, although he was left a little disappointed when we conceded so late in the game.

Of course with how the game ended we had goalkeeper David Forde to thank for all three points in the end, and the gaffer highlights that straight away in his after match interview.

‘It was a big save from a big player. That’s what Fordey is capable of. He’s in terrific form and earlier in the game he pulled of another great save to keep it at 1-0. Overall we played very well and could have maybe had a couple more. We really dug in, held out, and were good on the counter attack.’

Lomas goes on to say that he felt we showed a ‘bucket full of character’ during the match, but as ever the task now is to repeat that and be consistent in both our performances and also the results we are picking up as he no doubt wants us to go three unbeaten in the league now.

The gaffer also picked out Liam Trotter again following his performance, saying he feels he’s getting better with each and every passing week now and his assist for our second he thought was an ‘absolutely fantastic pass’ but the bottom line is for him, he sees him doing that every week in training so he’s delighted to see it coming off on the pitch now.
