New manager Steve Lomas turned up for his first day at work today, and he again took the chance to ask fans to judge him in his role now, and not who he played for.

Speaking to the official site he explained.

‘I am privileged to have the responsibility of managing a great club with proud traditions and passionate fans. As a player I was wholeheartedly committed to whichever club I played for at the time, but now my commitment is to Millwall as a manager.’

Lomas also said he was planning on leaning on the leaders we have in the playing squad, pointing to Paul Robinson, Danny Shittu, David Forde, Alan Dunne, Liam Trotter and Jimmy Abdou as players who can set the standard for the rest of the players at the club and for potential new signings to look to.

As for targets, Lomas said he has a list of about 15 strikers he’s looking at but he wants to assess whether they will gell with the players we have here already before making any final decisions.

He’s also going to take a look at those entering the final year of their contracts to tie down those he wants to keep here long term.
