Goal scoring defender Shaun Hutchinson has admitted his winning goal at the weekend over Bristol Rovers was something players dream about.
With scores tied at three all at the Memorial Stadium, it was a game Millwall needed to win to secure our place in the League One Play Offs, and with five odd minutes remaining in the tie, Hutchinson gave us all three points with his winning goal.
Speaking to the official site in his own post game press conference with Millwall now looking forward to a double header against Scunthorpe United in the Semi Finals of the Play Offs, Hutchinson explained.
‘It’s one of the goals that you dream about. I was lying in bed the night before the game and you hope that you can be the hero that steps up and gets the goal.’
Reflecting on the difficult game for us with the hosts matching us step by step when it came to the scoreline, Hutchinson went on to say.
‘It’s tough when you concede a goal so late and know that you need to score another to win. We were playing with the wind in the first-half and I think they knew if they stayed in the game they would get more chances in the second-half. It was hard conditions and we battled really well to get over the line. So much was at stake and thankfully we were given a late corner and I was able to get my head on it – it was a fantastic feeling.’
With four days to recover ahead of hosting Scunthorpe at The Den, Hutchinson went on to say we went into the game in good confidence and we would be looking for a first leg advantage.
‘We will be full of confidence ahead of the match with Scunthorpe because we have beaten them recently and we’re in good form. To be honest, they will be more worried of us then we are of them. Our League season ended on a high and now it’s about carrying that through the the play-offs and seeing what happens.’
